Man in the Mirror

While he may have been quite a bit odd in his recent years, Michael Jackson brought a lot of positive energy to the world. I've always loved the song Man in the Mirror: 

I'm starting with the man in the mirror.

I'm asking him to change his ways.

And no message could have been any clearer.

If you wanna make the world a better place,
take a look at yourself and then make a change

Those are sentiments we should all take to heart. RIP MJ. 

Flores Open House

Twinkle Studio is the featured jewelry at the new Flores Fine Art Gallery at 492 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Woot! 

At the gallery, I have more than 100 necklaces, bracelets, rings, pairs of earrings and (drumroll please...) cufflinks!

Plus there is a selection of about 25 necklaces with horse imagery for all the equine fans who are in or will be visiting Saratoga for the upcoming racing season. 

The creative talent behind the art at Flores Fine Art is Frankie Flores. His style is contemporary, in application, but classic in subject. His specialties are horses, horse racing, jazz music, and Manhattan.

Come Visit -- Troy River Street Festival

I'll be selling Twinkle Studio jewelry at the Troy River Street Festival on Saturday. Stop by anytime between 10am and 6pm. 

There should be some pretty neat things worth checking out:

- Street painting contest. This is a sidewalk chalk art extravaganza! Check out last year's winner and other entries by clicking here and visiting AOA's site. 

- Fried fair food (always a treat)

- 100+ juried, handcrafted art vendors (woot!)

- Live music on two stages including Cracker and Mike Doughty...and the music is free!

There's a 40% chance of rain, so bring an umbrella or one of those really cool, retro plastic rain scarves (like your Granny wears). 

Don't forget the wellies...maybe one of these cute pairs...all from Target.com and only $24.99. Me wants!

Show Time

So I did my first ever "show" this weekend. The City of Troy has an indie craft fair on Saturdays in the summer and it kicked off this past weekend.

It was pretty cool and I'm scheduled do be there again a few more Saturdays this summer. Click here for the dates. 

I loved talking with everyone who was checking out my jewelry and I got great feedback! There were a few gals who were so enthusiastic...it's fun to hear that kind of excitement!

All my planning and building prior to the event really paid off. The whole set-up was smooth, as was the tear-down (BIG UPS to A...and Bruno...heh). I was happy with my booth and will make just a few tweaks for next time.

The awesome bracelet and necklace holder I built...it worked great!

This is an old birdcage stand that I zhuzzed up with some paint, a sign, and a vintage scarf. Cute!

Talking and listening and talking and listening! Check out my apron...I got so many compliments on it...everyone thought it was a skirt. I wore it over a jumper and used it for my money belt. It worked wonderfully! 

I'm working on scheduling a few more events, but I know for sure that I'll be in Troy for these dates.

Chirp

I am absolutely loving Twitter! I didn't really get it at first, but now that I've tried it for a bit, I'm kind of addicted. 

The coolest thing is that I have learned so many things and been exposed to so many new web sites and people that I didn't even know exist...but that I'm enjoying quite a bit now.

Look at Me...I'm Downtown!

Twinkle Studio is featured on Downtown Susie Brown's Blog! What a sweet and fun write-up! 

She mentions the "few classy ladies of a certain age who share their previous loot with her." It's true...and so fun! I've gotten to know several really sweet older gals who have been collecting vintage jewelry for 20, 30, 40 years. Wow! They have such great stashes! I'm constantly amazed by their energy and enthusiasm.

Summer Fairs

I'm going to try a few fairs this summer to sell my Twinkle Studio jewelry. The first event is coming up quickly on June 6! 

The Tight Knit Open-Aire Market in Troy, NY is on Saturdays and coincides with the local farmer's market. We'll be set up in Monument Square at the intersection of Broadway and River. 

I'll be there June 6, July 11, August 1, and August 22. Since June 6 is coming up so quickly, I need to get my set-up taken care of including a canopy, table, signage, display goodies...whew. Should be fun! And it would be great to see you. :)

Saratoga Springs Girl's Night Out

Last night I participated in a fun Girl's Night Out shopping event hosted by Downtown Susie Brown. Lots and lots of Saratoga Fashionistas turned out for the event...it seemed to be a great success!

Many thanks to Sarah at Paperdolls of Saratoga for her generosity in letting me set-up in her adorable and sassy shop.

I LOVE these shoes! They're about one-half a size too small for me! So these beauties and the matching purse will just have to be satisfied being part of my display instead of being worn out and about. Wonderfully retro! 

The night concluded with margaritas and delicious food at Cantina. I love that place! Although I headed home since I left for a huge antique show at 6am today. Margaritas and early mornings just don't mix all that well!
